| No. It's the ongoing 'wars' inside the Kremlin. All the clans and how they're contantly fighting for power. Today. | |

| No really this is serious. We actually have communists in our country, and they're out for any chance they can get to take over the Kremlin. They aren't just socialists, they want to restore the Soviet Union. The communists aren't the only ones, either. We have a very powerful mafia that, despite efforts, hasn't exactly been even somewhat handicapped.
There is a battle for power in the Kremlin that wasn't even obvious to the public until officials start feuding publically. Some say the cause of it is the idea of a ruling tandem (Medvedev and Putin) others say it has deeper roots. Basically, one part of the Kremlin (people from Yeltsin's government, backed by the GRU and Interior Ministry) wants to do one thing, and the other (people with backgrounds in the KGB and Armed Forces, backed by the FSB and SVI) opposes, so they want to get rid of eachother.
Our next presidential elections are in 2012, and the campaigning starts late this year. Last elections there were incidents between the FSB and the GRU where they were ready to have a shootout (yes, literally). This is going on very often and in larger scenarios today, though alot are largely covered up by the media, it is too obvious to hide anymore, which is scary.
It is speculated that Medvedev leans towards the group of those people from Yeltsin's government. Why this is widely thought true is because he has fired the FSB director Patrushev (one of Putin's comrades from the KGB and a key ally) and attempted to weaken Sechin and Ivanov's (another Putin comrade from the KGB) positions.
Recently, Medvedev scrapped Putin's economic policy and is in the process of coming up with a new one, consulting the liberals and communists for help with it. He's also called for getting rid of officials from the "old guard" and putting new people in the Kremlin. That's great, except that so far they've all been liberals and [moderate] socialists.
Oddly enough and possibley in retaliation, our ex-KGB clan have been putting alot of support for a newer party which opposes socialism and even previously opposed some of Putin's policies. This party is the Union of Right Forces, a Russian form of what is known in other countries as "conservatives" or "republicans".
Complicated, is it not? That's my summarized version of recent events, it's waaaay more complicated than that, I'm sure. | |

| Good summary, I'd say. Whatever happens, it is unlikely it will happen without economic collapse. Who will come out as the victor, only time will tell, I suppose. If there even is much time. What a mess. It's kind of like you can almost feel a revolution in the midst, you know? Is our land cursed? Just joking. Haha. | |

| As bad is it can look, it isn't impossible to avoid such a conflict. Let's just hope it isn't too late to do anything about it. Now, if Russia turns communist again, I'm going to flee the country. Surely any civilized nation wouldn't refuse entance to a teenager running from communism??? Just joking, maybe... No really, I'd stay whether we're communist or whatever. | |

| Seriously now, I'd join an opposition group and work to take it down...again. And if I couldn't find an opposition group, I'd make one. Or, I'd go undercover. Join something like... the security services and work there... | |

| What about that pastor who shot two men, his would-be-killers, outside his church after a Sunday night service last year? That was really cool! They fired several shots at a relatively close range, didn't even injure him, and he shot them both with his revolver! That was just so good... | |

| Reminds me of my revolver:) By the way Is not Evgeni in the GRU? You once said ( Some say the cause of it is the idea of a ruling tandem (Medvedev and Putin) others say it has deeper roots. Basically, one part of the Kremlin (people from Yeltsin's government, backed by the GRU and Interior Ministry) Does that mean the Evgeni will be Backing Yeltsin's Government? | |
